On a solo day trip to Kananaskis, I do the Troll Falls Hike in the winter. The trail is just over 1 kilometer long, and can be made longer by climbing up to the 2 hidden waterfalls. I use some ice grips on my shoes to make hiking a bit easier. To my amazement, Troll Falls is completely frozen, as are the 2 hidden waterfalls. Despite it being winter I don't find the hike super tough, as the ice grips on my shoes help keep me from sliding. Also, I find a couple of the hidden trolls along the way.
