I traveled to Banff National Park in the Rocky Mountains in February to get away from the city for a couple days. While there I checked out the downtown, and ate at the always good Old Spaghetti Factory. I then walked down the Bow Falls trail and followed the road up to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. As a new owner of an annual discovery pass (If you buy one in 2016 it's good for 2 years instead of the regular 1 by the way) I was able to get into the Cave and Basin National Historic Site in the park for free. I hadn't been there since before I was a teenager, so it was cool to go back and see it. I also headed out to Lake Minnewanka and walked on the frozen ice of the lake. That's something I never thought I'd do! I could feel the ice crack deep down a couple times which made me uneasy. Some people were even passing around a puck on the lake too. I managed to find the infamous red chairs atop some rocks, and sat and enjoyed the incredible views.
